Raksha Bandhan- Bondage between brother and sister-Quilled Rakhis

Raksha Bandhanthe occasion to  celebrate the bondage between sister and brother.
The bond of love and affection between brother and sister, is one of the noblest human emotions. I don't think, any sister would forget the sweet moments spent with her brother. I still remember, while going to school,  how my brother was to hold my hands and take me to school. During rainy season, he used to take utter care that, I should not get wet in rain, how my brothers pampered me during my childhood, how my brothers supported during bad period of my life...
Oh, if I go on telling, this will be endless.

Every year, for Raksha Bhandhan , I decided to make handmade Rakhees to send it to my brothers, but could not.

This year, at last my wish came true. So ,sending handmade Rakhis to my lovely brothers and cousins. Here are the quilled rakhis.
These are with floral design:

Floral design with Kundans  attached. Another one is butterfly!

This is a cute Teddy Bear!

And all the Rakhees are ready with the cards to get posted.

May be these are made of colourful papers, but lots of wishes and love wrapped in each of these.Hope my brothers and cousins like these Rakhees.

Many of my projects in arts and crafts are in finishing stage. Soon share about those in coming posts.

Until then,
Love , laugh and live the life to the fullest,

Happy Deepavali

Deepavali , the festival of light, is being celebrated across the country. Depavali- means row of light. Almost all know about significance of each day of Deepavali. People celebrate this , by lighting lamps. In south it continues till end of Kartika Maasa . In Hindu culture Deepa (Lamp ) has lot of significance. Deepa is lit always in front of idols of Gods, in temple as well as in homes.

Everybody knows how and why Deepavali is celebrated. I thought this is the right occasion, to share the collection of lamps I have. Every year, I buy a new lamp and add to my collection.

Here are the lamps I have.
This is made of brass, the peacock, holding the lamp, in the beak.

The below two are of same design, lady holding the lamp, but made of different materials. This is the new lamp added to my collection, this year.

Few more are here :

Also I painted these terracotta lamps to give it as a gift to my sister. Have a look:

Hope you liked them all. Do share your comments.
"Wishing you all very happy Deepavali. May this Deepavali bring brightness in your life."

Happy Navaratri - Dasara

Happy Navaratri to all my friends.

I was planning to make some cards for the festive seasons , Navaratri and Deepavali. I thought of finishing this work , by starting of Navaratri. But 3 days back, my mother is hospitalised, in my native place. So could not complete anything.  Now she is  recovering , but I'm worried about her.

Now its auspicious occasion of Navaratri for Hindus. Though its celebrated in every parts of India, with different styles,  Navaratri reminds, Durga puja of West Bengal, Dnadiya of Gujarat and of course Mysore Dasara. I wish all my friends a very happy navaratri.

This card is made using parchment. This is very beautiful and popular paper craft. I'm still practicing this art. There are several mistakes in this card. I'm sending this to my mother. Mother, embraces us forgiving all our mistakes. She will never expect anything from children. Nothing can be compared with her love and affection.

On this auspicious occasion, Praying Maa Durga, mother of Universe to forgive all our sins.

Wishing all my friends, very happy Navaratri. May , Maa Durga ,fulfill all your wishes.
