Make over of an ordinary saree- Screen printing again

One of my clients had given a very ordinary saree for make over. Here it is :

I tried to convince her a lot , not to go for make over of this saree, because that would be expensive and it might not look good also. But as it was last gift from her parents, she wanted to wear this saree. So she insisted for make over.

It was really difficult for me. This is very normal saree, heavy lace won't look good for this. I went for normal zari lace. Attached it along the borders.Always I use screen printing for make over. Printed with big rose prints, as it is matching with lace.

And printed small motifs along on Pallu. Still I was not happy with the look, tried 3d glitter paint on the motifs and attached some kundans.

She is happy to with the work, at least she can wear this occasionally .

Saree Design with Lace and Screen printing

This is again an attempt to repair my sister's saree which was spoiled by me. I don't know everytime I take her saree, either the design won't come good or it will be spoiled. :(.

Its a lovely silk saree with unique color combination, light bottle Green with Gold border. While giving this my sister warned me many times not to spoil this saree.
In spite of all her warning I spoiled this. I tried with machine embroidery. At that time I had not learned the machine embroidery properly. Uhh look at my guts. The result was as below, very bad very bad!

Somehow I had to repair this, otherwise my sister would demand 10 times more than this saree. So to cover my fault, I used brocade cloth and laces. Made the lace with brocade cloth and attached along the border. And Brown and Rust colored borders on the both the sides of the brocade border. Of course, screen printing is best method to make the cloth beautiful and hide the odds! Painted the border with Paisley designs with Gold and Green color.

And on the Pallu, big Paisley designs in Gold and Green pearl color.

I was quite happy with the designs. But my sister, same old comment "You always use my saree for practising. By spoiling my sarees you are becoming perfect!". TRUE! :)

Recently could not work on crochet. Soon share about a colorful crochet afghan .

Kerala Cotton saree screen printed

I've been very busy since last month. So could not work on any saree, all the colors were sitting idle :-). For Dasara I had 2 days holidays. So screen printed on two sarees, one of them is Kerala Cotton saree.

On the border printed with Ambari designs and and on the body also printed small motifs of the same designs.

Still orders from my friends are pending. Hope to complete those soon. Once completed definitely share those designs with you.

Pink saree with screen printing

This is also my friend's saree. Pink with maroon border.
I used dull gold and maroon combination for the saree. Along the border printed paisley designs

and on the pallu printed flower motifs.

Attached small kundans on it,

I struggled a lot to decide on the color of the prints. The saree has silvery gold color, which very difficult to make with screen printing colors. Then went ahead with dull Gold as it will give the contrast effect of silver and gold. Hope I have taken the right decision.What do you say?

Cotton saree with Screen printing

This is a Magenta cotton Saree with Green border.
Screen printed with big motifs of "Dancing Lady", along the border. I have not used any other motifs as I wanted the dancing lady motif to be prominent.

Makeover of a Saree

This is my Attige's (Sister in law) saree, plain Blue silk like saree with Golden border.

She wanted very flashy design for this saree. Though I don't like flashy , I had to go with her wish. So printed big circular motifs along the border.

Attached Kundans on the motifs and Golden color Chamkis on the body of the saree.

Near Pallu , printed the motifs all over the body and attached Chamkis and Kundans.Attached small Blue Brocade material border and lace along the saree border.

Screen printing on a silk saree

I've used screen printing to make over ,many old sarees. This is a new silk saree, on which I used screen printing.

This is my sister's saree. When I saw this saree, I liked it very much . Some creative idea flashed in my mind.When I told her about my idea, her first reaction was big "Noooooo!". :-) Expected! Because already I had spoilt two sarees of her.:-) I begged in front of her, but she was reluctant. I promised her that if I spoil this saree, I would buy her two srees. Then unwillingly, she gave this saree. Still she had doubts!

While printing on this saree, I took utmost care, as if its saree of any Goddess and if its spoilt I would be cursed by the Goddess :-)

The result is below :

I used one of my favourite Peacock motifs. I have already used this motif to design a dress. In between printed peacock feather motif designs.

And on the Pallu again Peacock feather motif design.

My sister is happy to see this. She is planning to add some Kundans on this. She tried to find out mistakes, so that she could get two sarees from me. But could not :-)

Designing a "Tie and Dye" saree with lace and embroidered motifs. Hope will be completed by next weekend. share that in the coming post,
