Pencil Sketching - A Practice

I could not make any painting or pencil sketching recently. This one is sketched for practicing pencil sketching.

Pencil sketching

In this sketch the highlight is hair and eyes. I had taken help of sketching book to sketch this.
 Hope you liked it.
I love batik painting very much. Tried a lot to learn it. But could not.  I have some good batik paintings in my collection. Share about those in my next post.

Sketching practice

This is an attempt to practice sketching. Yes, I have seriously started practicing sketching. For this I have used a sketch book.

Pencil sketching

Nothing more about this. Hope to draw some more sketches.

Radha Krishna -Unbounded Love !

I always wished to draw pencil sketches of Radha Krishna. But as I'm not trained properly in pencil sketching was bit hesitant, thinking that something might go wrong.
Before working on these pencil sketches I studied stories about Radha Krishana, from different sources. There are different opinions about Radha Krishna, from various scholars.

Some opine Radha and Krishna married as per Gandharva Vivaha( a kind of Hindu marriage type) Almost all stories stress that , the Radha Krishna love story signifies, union of Atma (soul) with Paramatma( Supreme soul). The love was bond less, knew no bonds and bounds.
Radha and Krishna could not separate from each other, as they were always united. The following sketch is based on unity of Radha and Krishna.

Some opine Radha was already married and she was elder to Krishna. Krishna because of responsibilities  could not marry Radha etc. While leaving from Brindavan to Mathura, Krishna gave his flute to Radha and   he never met Radha again.

Radha was left with memories of Krishna and the flute given by him.
The below sketch is of Radha, lost in memories of Krishna. She is chuckling. And she is wearing Peacock feather, which was one of Krishna's favourites.

And the below one with Radha with the flute given by Krishna. She was eagerly waiting for Krishna, looking at the horizon for the Krishna's arrival.

I know these sketches are not perfect. I will try to improve in the next sketches. But happy to share it on the occasion of  second anniversary of my blog! Thanks to all the readers. Wish this journey of togetherness continues.

Many more to share in the coming posts,

Until then,

Lonliness - a pencil sketch

Very rarely I draw pencil sketches. I don't have proper training in drawing pencil sketches.  This the one I drew yesterday- 'Loneliness'. (I have taken help of a sketch book to draw this.)
Though the woman is alone - facing all the sorrows of life , she has a smile on her face. Is the smile  mark of the tremendous strength with which she is facing the sufferings  or the smile resulting from the inner peace  or result of  her decision to accept happiness and sorrow equally  ? Though I've drawn this sketch.....I'm still guessing.......

My sketch in color

I hope you remember, I made the sketch of a lady in grief . If you don't then you can read that post here.
The sketch I made is :

Few days back, Ashwini (Her  blog is : http://ashsonline.blogspot.in ) had asked my permission to use this sketch to make a glass painting. I was also eager to see the sketch in color. So I agreed. I thought it would take at least few weeks for Ashwini to make the glass painting (Because for me it would have taken few months :-)). To my surprise , the glass painting is ready. You can see the painting in her blog here.

I liked it very much. It looks better than the pencil sketch. I'm sure you also agree with me.

Once again "Thanks Ashwini ".

In the next post, definitely share about the Kalamkari Patch work I made on a saree.

Until then,

Emotions captured- My first attempt in pencil sketching

Hi All,

Happy new year!

Sorry, I could not post anything recently. Simple, I was not in mood. At a point thought, stop this blog. But, could not I've always found peace in arts and crafts.

I never learnt sketching. I’m learning, and this is my first attempt.

Whatever, I've sketched, is not at all, according to sketching rules. The proportions are not at all proper. All the experts in sketching, I'm sorry if you find mistakes in this sketching. I know you will definitely find many.

Imagined the emotions and tried to express in the form of sketching.

Here it is:

The woman looks alright to the outside world. That’s why; I've drawn the ornaments on her. But she is weeping inside. Something (may be depression, or any grief -I leave this to your imagination) is burning her.  The tears she has shed, formed a river, but still not able to extinguish the fire. This is my imagination. It might look different to you.

Again Happy New Year!
